For the last seven months I’ve been blogging for a rape crisis center in Mogadishu–the one and only in the entire country of Somalia. Last week the founder and leader of Sister Somalia, Fartuun Adan, was honored with an International Women of Courage Award, presented by Sec. of State John Kerry and First Lady Michelle Obama. I’m very, very proud to be involved in Mrs. Adan’s work for the women of Somalia, and the world. Thank you, Fartuun Adan, for your hard work, love, and your consistent enthusiasm and unwavering belief that a non-violent world is possible. You’ve convinced me that hearts and minds can come together to create a better world.
