“Our task must be to free ourselves by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty.” Albert Einstein

Odd to be writing a comment on Al’s quote, what would it have been like to respond when he was alive, online. I’m thinking compassion is strangely selective…..we can “feel” for that poor dog lost then found, or the bird with the broken wing…..but the guy next door with a drinking problem, no job, kids that look hungry and scared…for that guy? More likely Judgement. Maybe it’s automatic pilot that leads us to judge our fellow man. Compassion may be a step away from instinct.
Well said and but I agree with Wanda as well…we’re often lacking in compassion for our human neighbors. I guess it all comes down to the point Jesus was making about walking in love. If we do that, we are compassionate to ALL living creatures, human or otherwise.
